** spoiler alert **
Summary:This suspenseful debut follows a group of teenage misfits in their delicious quest for revenge on those who have wronged them at their high school. When a mysterious note appears in Charlotte’s mailbox inviting her to join the League of Strays, she’s hopeful it will lead to making friends. What she discovers is a motley crew of loners and an alluring, manipulative ringleader named Kade. Kade convinces the group that they need one another both for friendship and to get back at the classmates and teachers who have betrayed them. But Kade has a bigger agenda. In addition to vandalizing their school and causing fights between other students, Kade’s real intention is a dangerous plot that will threaten lives and force Charlotte to choose between her loyalty to the League and her own conscience.Frankly, I just found this one boring. The main character Charlotte was one of those people who did everything to please her parents but didn't do anything for herself until the league of strays. It was difficult to connect with her. As for Kade, he was the elusive good looking guy that was the head of the league and Charlotte's love interest. He was too distant. I wasn't able to like him at all because I really wasn't given much about him.
The premise of the book was different than anything else I've read. The kids plan things to get back at someone who's embarrassed them. These things that they do become extremely even violating the law. The only one that feels guilty and says anything is Charlotte which was quite refreshing. The other kids kinda gave me a psychopath vibe as they felt no remorse for their revenge. I just thought the whole thing was bizarre, and it was hard for me to get through it.
The cover's pretty neat, but we all know that trite maxim: Never judge a book by its cover.
Would I recommend to a friend? Nope
