Unravel Me by Kendall Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Psychology student Ashlyn Drake’s neat, orderly life takes a turn for the crazy when she finds the perfect subject for her amnesia thesis – a young man without any memory of his previous life, including the murder he’s accused of committing.
Against all common sense, Ashlyn’s drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Perhaps it’s that he’s so incredibly male, and even handcuffed to his hospital bed he could pass for a cologne ad – Scent de Insanity. Or perhaps it’s because she’s spent too many lonely nights studying. Either way, she’s determined to help him solve the mystery of his past. She begins to unravel who he was before, using his cryptic tattoos, and his paintings that scream of a dark past as her only clues. When she finally learns his secret there’s no telling which one is the real him, the gentle lover she’s fallen for or the troubled man with a dark past.
Characters: I liked Ashlyn a lot for her selflessness toward a complete stranger, Logan, but at the same time, I was like
I mean, Logan was an alleged criminal. What intelligent person begs to be alone with someone in handcuffs? But lucky for her, Logan is a gorgeous sweetie who likes to paint and has killer Jeopardy
question answering skills. Liking Logan was a little difficult because of the fact that his entire past is unknown. I had trouble trusting him, I guess?Plot: Falling in love with someone you're supposed to be working with, someone who is possibly dangerous, someone who doesn't know himself, these certainly make an interesting plot. I really liked the idea of falling in love with someone who can't remember his past because it's like, "How can you love someone and take care of her if you can't even do it for yourself?" The reason why I like this book is because it suggests that love conquers all.
Sequel: Oh my goodness! The companion/ sequel is a gagillion times better!!! Ashlyn and Logan make brief appearances, but it is about Ashlyn's friend finding love. The guy she finds is absolutely wonderful.
