  One More Night

EXCERPT: “You sure you’re not sneaking off to Los Angeles to get me a ring?” He laughed once more. She’d been trying to get it out of him since the night he told her he’d wanted to take her to Vegas for the weekend. Even with her business meeting, she was hunting for clues of a proposal. Only his brother knew he planned to ask her to marry him this weekend. “I’m not going to Los Angeles to get a ring, but even if I were I would never tell you,” he said. “You do realize that gives absolutely nothing away?” He nodded, tapping her forehead lightly, then running his finger down to her nose. “I know,” he said, then nibbled on the end of her nose. “Well, enough about rings. What’s in that box there you’re hiding by your leg?” “You saw it?” “My gift-spotting skills know no bounds.” He handed her the turquoise-wrapped box with a white bow on it. She eyed the bow. “In case you want to tie me up on the plane, looks like we already have something to use.” His dick twitched against the denim of his jeans. She was always on the same wavelength as he was. “I may need to tie up your hands as a reminder to bring your poker face to the meeting today.” She gave him a sharp-eyed stare. “Do not ever doubt my poker face. It is masterful,” she said, as she tugged one end of the ribbon, letting the white satiny bow fall across the shiny wrapping paper. Ripping off the paper, she popped open the top of the box, and there it was. That glow in her eyes. The absolute joy in receiving gifts. She was a delight to give presents to because she never faked her appreciation. Reaching inside the box, she wrapped her fingers around the necklace then gently lifted the long strand of pearls. “Oh my God, they’re stunning. They’re so fucking gorgeous.” She draped the pearls over her hand, the long strands like waterfalls of smooth, rounded beads. She gazed at them like they were precious, a fitting response, since they were. “They’re real,” she said, with wonder in her voice as she looked up at him. He nodded. “I would never give you something fake.” “I’ve never had pearls before. I’ve never thought of myself as a pearl person.” “Then let me show you how I want you to wear them, so you can see how absolutely fucking sexy a pearl person can be,” he said, standing up and making his way to his suitcase. He opened one of the zipper compartments where he’d tucked a dress for her, and brought it over. “Another gift. Put this on.” “Now?” He nodded. “Yes. Model it for me.” “As you wish,” she said, standing up and glancing once at the cockpit. “What about the pilot?” “I told him we’d be making full use of the plane and he said he’d have his eyes on the sky the whole time.” “Then keep your eyes on me,” she said, looping the strand around her neck, then stripping off her skirt, letting it pool at her feet, her gaze locked on him the whole time. He watched her, growing harder with each layer she removed—now her shirt, then her lacy bra. He reclined the spacious leather seat, taking in the show, savoring every second of her undressing. Pearls   About ONE MORE NIGHT: Your presence is requested for another installment in the tale of Julia and Clay, two red-hot lovers. Originally a Florida girl, CHANEL CLEETON moved to London where she received a bachelor’s degree from Richmond, The American International University in London and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever, until fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise, and an American fighter pilot with smooth dance moves swept her off her feet. Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure in South Korea.
Law school made Chanel realize she’d rather spend her days writing sexy stories than in a courtroom, and she hasn’t looked back since. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she’s happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, her three pups, and her fighter pilot husband. Chanel writes New Adult contemporary romances and thrillers.
She is the author of I SEE LONDON and LONDON FALLING, published by Harlequin HQN, and FLIRTING WITH SCANDAL, the first book in a new NA series to be released by Berkley in 2015.

Blog Tour: Goodness of Fit by Missy Marciassa

Zoe Tawn is about to finish her bachelor’s degree and start a PhD program in quantitative psychology. Yet her friends don’t think she’s quite ready to graduate: she still hasn’t played her v-card. Zoe’s friends don’t know her v-card was played years ago; she doesn’t talk about that crap. She does agree that dating would make her a more well-rounded individual, however, so she tries, and realizes the dating game isn’t for her: she’s a geek, not a flirt. Zoe decides to utilize her strengths with the mantra “Smart is the new sexy” and develops a predictive model for companionship to replace those outdated compatibility questionnaires. Her model goes viral in no time, so her friends secretly enter her profile into it. When a match comes back, it shocks them all: it’s Wesley Williams, the twenty-something CEO billionaire of Quantitative Solutions, where Zoe is doing an internship. Zoe insists the error in her model must be unacceptably high until she gets an email requesting she stop by Mr. Williams’ office at her earliest convenience…

EXCERPT:

Lena gave my hand a squeeze. “High school’s ancient history,” she said. The determined look on her face
told me she wasn’t going to back down. “You haven’t dated anyone in college.”
I nodded. I’d been busy, dammit. I had a full scholarship that was contingent on keeping at least a 3.7
GPA, and then I got the internship at Quantitative Solutions, which was not only good for my vita (the
academic version of a resume, which had to be submitted with grad school applications), but it paid
well, too. My mother had raised me by myself; she deserved a break, so I couldn’t afford to slip either at
school or at work.
“So you’re re-virginized,” Lena declared.
Both Talen and I blinked at that.
“Doesn’t that involve a surgical procedure?” I asked.
“Nope.” Lena shook her head so vigorously, her ponytail swung about. “The hymen is a fairly elastic
piece of skin, as is the vagina. Even if you’ve had sex before, if you don’t have it for a while, well, things
can tighten up again.”
Talen’s brow was wrinkled. “What the hell are you guys looking up in the library?” Lena was an
information science major: it was an outgrowth of library studies to focus on organizing all kinds of data,
not just books, and to organize it electronically. She took courses in web and graphic design, statistics,
organizational systems, even things like psychology to understand how people interacted with, stored,
and retrieved data.
Lena gave her a teasing grin. “Much more interesting stuff than the economy.” Talen majored in
economics with a minor in business. She rolled her eyes at Lena’s comment. “You know how I feel about
this,” Lena went on, although she didn’t need to. I’d heard this many times over the last few years. “Just because we’re smart doesn’t mean we have to be non-sexual beings. We don’t have to limit ourselves
because of some dumb stereotype about smart girls- women.”
“Smart is the new sexy.” Talen and I chimed in when Lena said this; we’d heard her declaration many
times. Lena nodded; her beam showed her pleasure that we remembered her “teachings.”
“We know you’re smart.” Lena gave me a teasing nudge. “Next semester, we’re bringing the sexy side
out.”

AUTHOR BIO:

Missy Marciassa loved getting lost in novels from the time she could read, so it’s no surprise she wanted to write. Her very first “novels” were re-writing the books she read to get the endings she wanted in second grade. Missy continued to read and write through grade school and high school.

After becoming rather disillusioned with fiction after writing literary criticism as an English major in college, however, Missy focused on her enjoyment of learning about people and studied psychology. Reading fiction fell to the wayside with all the reading and writing required for college and graduate school, but once Missy became a doctoral candidate, she rediscovered her love of fiction. Then she started getting the urge to write, an urge that wouldn’t go away (she refuses to diagnose it as a compulsion). Covert Assignment is the end result of that urge.

Until We Fly
EXCERPT: “You don’t want me here?” she asks breathily, her fingers curled around the counter edge. Her knuckles are white. “I didn’t say that,” I answer quietly, still not moving. Because right now, with her soft curves pressed into me, I do want her here. And unfortunately, my dick chooses this moment to agree with me.
It hardens against her and her eyes widen. “I see,” she murmurs.
I rotate away, straightening up and leaning on my crutches once again. “Sorry about that,” I tell her. “I hope I didn’t crush you.” With my hard-on.

Barnes and Noble ** Amazon **

UNTIL WE FLY Synopsis: Ex-Army Ranger, Brand Killien, has always been good. A good friend, a good soldier, a good everything. . The problem is, good hasn’t gotten him anything but a crushed heart. So after licking his wounds, he decides to move on. And moving on doesn’t include being good anymore. Bad sounds so much better. Jaded and detached, Brand is determined to never open himself up to anyone again. It’s not worth the pain. Instead, he becomes closed, hardened, aloof. But then he’s called back home for a family emergency… a family that he is estranged from. A family that he put out of his mind a long time ago for very good reasons…reasons that involve secrets and pain. Reasons he tried hard to forget. But home is where the heart is, and it just might be where Brand finds his again. Why? Because home is where Nora Greene is. A fiery, red-headed spitfire, Nora is a thing from his past. A beautiful, feisty thing. When Brand left, she was away at boarding school. But she’s back now. And she wants Brand, scars and all.

PEN NAME BLITZ: UNWRITTEN BY CHELSEA M. CAMERON

UnWritten by Chelsea M. Cameron

July 2014

Blair Walton isn't your average tattooed children's librarian. She's also one half of bestselling romance author, Scarlet Rose. Along with her bff Raine, she spends her nights writing books so steamy, she's afraid they would shock her Southern conservative grandmother to death, if she knew about them. Blair and Raine keep their smut peddling ways a secret from everyone, including family.

On deadline for their latest book and out of ideas, Raine suggests (demands) that Blair find a guy and "do some research." It just so happens that Blair has a guy that's ready and willing. Declan Bennet has all the qualifications: He's British, looks fabulous in a suit and gets bonus points for being a single dad. But what started out as a research project quickly turns into something much more. Someone else is writing this love story and Blair has completely lost control. But will Declan still feel the same way when he finds out the truth about Blair and her secret motives?

We are asking people what name they'd choose as their author pen name because Blair, from UNWRITTEN, has a pen name she uses as she writes super steamy novels. So tell us, what name would you pick if you were moonlighting as an author of erotic romance? Leave it in the comments!!!
For my nom de plume, I'm using the porn star formula: Middle name + Street you grew up on

Review: On the Fence by Kasie West

On the FenceOn the Fence by Kasie West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Current Goodreads rating: 4.05

Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn't know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she's got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she's falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.

YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE ON THE FENCE ABOUT READING THIS ONE!!

If you don't smile while reading this book, you're not human.

Characters: OMG, the characters make this book!  First, there's Charlie.  Yeah, this girl is awesome!! She can take on those boys and handle herself, wahoo! However, she's only 16 and is pretty immature, doing things like throwing basketballs at people's heads or kicking them.  But, as the story progresses, she matures a little bit and becomes more comfortable with who she is and what she wants which made me happy.  The thing that I loved most about Charlie is her humor!!

Charlie has 3 biological brothers (whom I adore), but she considers Braden, her brother Gage's best friend and their neighbor, one too.  She and her brothers are always bantering playfully, constantly trying to embarrass each other.  At the end of the day, they've got each others' backs though and are extremely protective of one another.  ON THE FENCE made me want to have more brothers.

But speaking solely about Braden, the love interest, he is sweet, athletic, funny (but not as much as Charlie's brothers), caring, and quite jealous!!  I didn't like him as much as the other boys and wasn't swooning over him until the very end because of his jealousy.  But how can I blame him?  Charlie wasn't making their getting together too easy either.

And last, but not least, Charlie's father is wonderful.  He is a single parent trying to raise a daughter, and he's doing the best he can which is sometimes awkwardly funny.

***** Characters from The Distance Between Us have cameos, and they're fantastic :) *****

Plot: What a perfect summer romance.  The romance part of the plot is predictable, but so, so sweet!  The Fence Chats made me want to have a neighbor as well.  The mysterious aspect involving Charlie's mother is interesting, not what I was expecting at all.  I do think it was a little hard to believe that Charlie couldn't remember the major secret about her mom's past.  She was 6 when it happened, so I would think that she'd be able to remember at that age where you're not really, really little but not older either.  I also wish there was more about her mom, but there are a couple of lines between Charlie and Braden that justify why there is not a whole lot of emphasis on the situation.

Overall feelings:  Super funny and cute!  Definitely a nice romance for summer time and a contemporary about growing up and discovering yourself.  I love you, Kasie West and I will be reading Pivot Point soon.

Poking Fun at Hipsters aka Myself

So, I was in Urban Outfitters today.  I'm not into buying anything here, so there I was perusing the store while my sister tried different, tiny articles of clothing on.  What do I spy?

This lovely book is about a guy attending Duke University for his masters degree, and in attempts to save money, he buys a van and lives in it to avoid room and board fees.  Instantly, I recognized this book because I had to read a section of it for an English class while we studied Romanticism.  It was a great excerpt, but I found it very funny finding this book about saving money in a store that charges $50 for a tee-shirt.

Oh, those hipsters!  They have their causes and are passionate about them, though they probably have come nowhere near facing problems such as these.  And the funny thing is that I think I am one of these people.  I actually refused to buy anything from Urban Outfitters because I like my thrift store clothes.  Thrift stores are awesome: They promote recycling (and thus decreasing the need for a child to produce more clothing in unfair working conditions), the proceeds usually go to charity, and you can find some unique things there.

I don't have any first hand experience with hunger or financial difficulties, and therefore I can see why people make fun of me and the hipster community.

But then I got to thinking, and why is caring a bad thing?  In the end, it's awesome that Walden On Wheels is in Urban Outfitters because more people will be introduced to the topic.  More people will read it, learn of Ilgunas' message, and hopefully spread it.

Leave me a comment if there is a book that opened your eyes to an important issue.

x Carly

Cover Reveal: After Us by Amber Hart

About BEFORE YOU (Before & After Us #1)

Some say love is deadly. Some say love is beautiful. I say it is both.

Faith Watters spent her junior year traveling the world, studying in exquisite places, before returning to Oviedo High School. From the outside her life is picture-perfect. Captain of the dance team. Popular. Happy. Too bad it’s all a lie.

It will haunt me. It will claim me. It will shatter me. And I don't care.

Eighteen-year-old Diego Alvarez hates his new life in the States, but staying in Cuba is not an option. Covered in tattoos and scars, Diego doesn’t stand a chance of fitting in. Nor does he want to. His only concern is staying hidden from his past—a past, which if it were to surface, would cost him everything. Including his life.

At Oviedo High School, it seems that Faith Watters and Diego Alvarez do not belong together. But fate is as tricky as it is lovely. Freedom with no restraint is what they long for. What they get is something different entirely.

Love—it will ruin you and save you, both.

AFTER US EXCERPT
“What I want is for you to want me like I want you!”
I clamp a hand to my mouth. Regret slaps me in the face.
Javier pulls my hand away. His stare takes in all of me. My eyes. My lips. I’m embarrassed by what I said. I’m embarrassed by my ridiculous heart, which thumps loudly, echoing his every touch.
“You want me, mami?”
Yes. In the deepest parts of my bones, yes.
Silence.
“Answer me.” His voice is demanding.
“No,” I say, stubborn.
A grin crawls across his face.
“I owe you an apology,” he says. “I couldn’t talk to you earlier. Wanted to. But I couldn’t. You understand?”
“Not at all.”
Javier’s warmth reminds me of the water. Of wanting to jump in. I’d do anything to cool off.
“If I explain it to you, will you remember in the morning?”
“Probably not,” I answer honestly. “But then again, you’re hard to forget.”
